County Gents

The inclusive and friendly character of our Gents’ Section is best represented by our popular Tuesday and Thursday morning sweeps. These run all year round and all members (old and new) are made welcome. The draw for three balls or four balls is made at 9.30 am. It is best to arrive early and many enjoy a pre-round tea/coffee with a hot roll. The convivial atmosphere in the clubhouse is always taken onto the course.

The Gent’s Section enjoys long established golfing friendships with annual, home and away matches against Southerness GC, Kirkcudbright GC and New Galloway GC. Every year also sees a weekend outing to somewhere less local, usually to a championship course in the central belt or in the north of England. There is an annual early season trip to Spain too. These events are popular and are memorable not just for the golf!

Wednesdays, from April – September are competition days for our Gents’ Section. A list of all competitions can be found in our fixture list, available on line or in hard copy.

Sundays, from October – March are Winter League mornings. The arrangements are similar to the Tuesday and Thursday morning sweeps albeit with an earlier start time; the draw is made at 8.30 am. This is seen as a prestigious trophy to win. Consequently, even in difficult weather conditions, there is always a surprisingly good turnout.

Individuals and teams from our Gents’ Section represent our club in local, regional and national competitions.
