Wigtownshire County Golf Club is a signatory to the R & A’s “Women and Girls in Golf” Charter. Our club has always welcomed female members of all ages and abilities. Our membership has embraced and developed an inclusive, friendly culture that enables women and girls to maximise their potential in golf. Female members pay the same annual fees as their male counterparts and can play on the course at any time. There is no male gender bias on our committees. Currently, the posts of President, Treasurer and Handicap Secretary are each held by a female member.
Our Ladies’ section meets every Thursday for weekly competitions throughout the season. In winter this moves to 11.00 am on a Saturday morning. A list of all competitions can be found in our fixture list, available on line or in hard copy.
Each year a series of local outings is organised. These normally include visits to Powfoot GC, Dumfries and Galloway GC, Prestwick GC and Lockerbie GC. These are popular and sociable events, as is the annual Lady Driver; 18 holes on Sunday late afternoon, evening meal and overnight in the Cally Palace, Gatehouse of Fleet followed by another 18 holes Monday morning. An early season trip to Spain is also part of our Ladies’ Section’s itinerary. This is always a memorable trip and not just for the golf!
Individuals and teams from our Ladies’ Section represent our club in local, regional and national competitions.
